Becoming finer in the Bay

In today's forecast we are expecting the weather to be fine, however there is still a chance of evening showers, and also westerlies.

It's a two-clothing layer day today with a high of 16 and an overnight low of 7 degrees. Humidity is 94 per cent.

High tide is at 9.50am and low tide is at 4pm. There's a sea swell of 1.1m with a sea temperature of 15 degrees. Sunset tonight is at 5.12pm.

If you're going fishing the next best fish bite time is between 7.30 and 10.30am.

In NZ history on this day in 1939 Paddy the Wanderer died. Paddy, a ginger and brown Airedale terrier, became a national celebrity because of his exploits on the Wellington waterfront and beyond during the 1930s.

In world history on this day in 1453 France defeated England at Castillon, France, ending the Hundred Years' War. In 1918 Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and his immediate family and retainers are executed by Bolshevik Chekists at Ipatiev House in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

Today is the birthday of English minister and hymn writer Isaac Watts. Born in 1674 he once said "Though reading and conversation may furnish us with many ideas of men and things, yet it is our own meditation must form our judgment."
