Ixom supporting students through science

Students will get to experience the science roadshow in the Bay of Plenty from August 30 till September 6

Ixom, New Zealand's largest supplier of chlorine and related chemicals, is once again proud to sponsor the Science Roadshow's Bay of Plenty leg.

Celebrating 30 years in operation this year, the popular Science Roadshow is visiting 120 locations throughout New Zealand, packing the contents of its 15m truck and trailer into school halls at every stop.

It offers school children, their teachers and parents an opportunity to explore various science and technology concepts by ‘touch and feel'. Over 47,000 students from more than 600 schools are expected to visit the Science Roadshow this year.

Scott Monkley, Ixom's Operations Manager, says the Science Roadshow fits seamlessly with Ixom's own aim to encourage science education in schools.

'As a local business, we're delighted to be a supporter of the Roadshow, which provides children with the opportunity to connect with science and technology in a fun and interactive way. We are looking forward to being part of that learning in the Bay of Plenty region.”

As well as providing sponsorship for two of the exhibits, members of Ixom's Mt Maunganui and Morrinsville teams will be on hand to support the Extra for Experts challenge, where kids share their knowledge of selected exhibits.

Science Roadshow Director Ian Kennedy says that securing funding partners for the programme is pivotal to its success.

'We are very grateful for the support we get from Ixom while the Roadshow is in the Bay of Plenty.”

The Science Roadshow will tour the Bay of Plenty from 30 August till 6 September.
