A man and woman had a lucky escape after their dinghy overturned near Papamoa Beach.

The couple were spotted yesterday afternoon after their boat had flipped.

'They were both spotted, found and looked after and they are both fine now,” says a police spokesperson.

She says someone had commented on Facebook this morning that a teenager had drowned.

However, police say the only incident they in their records from overnight was the overturned dinghy.

'That's the only thing we have on record of anyone getting in trouble in the water.”
