G.J.Gardner Homes has teamed up with Keep New Zealand Beautiful for a nationwide clean-up week September 10 to 16.

The Tauranga branch have decided to hold an event this Saturday at the Papamoa Surf Club from 1pm.

Laura Casburn for G.J. Gardner Homes in Tauranga says the decision to choose this area was down to a few reason.

'We wanted to do a clean-up in the Papamoa area as this is where a lot of our building occurs and we'd like to give back to the community.”

'After driving around Papamoa, we were actually amazed with just how well kept it is, it was actually quite hard to find any rubbish. We did notice some rubbish in the area between the Papamoa Surf Club and the Papamoa Beach Reserve, so this seemed to be the place where we could make the biggest difference.

'In addition, we are currently involved with the Surf Club as we are doing a charity build which will be auctioned off to raise money for the club.”

Laura says that her personal reason for getting involved in organising the event is down to her conversation background.

'I want to help make a difference in this beautiful part of the world. It is going to be a great family friendly event and we are putting the real emphasis on fun with a few challenges for the teams included.”

There are currently 50 people signed up to take part in the clean-up, including 15 kids of all ages.

The event is open to the public with registrations starting at 1pm outside the surf club.

If anyone is interested in partaking in the clean-up or would like some more information email Laura at admin.tauranga@g.j.gardner.co.nz

I’m amazed to hear you couldn’t find any rubbish. The place is a dump.
