Labour List MP Jan Tinetti is looking for a Youth MP to work with her as part of the 2019 Youth Parliament.

She says the role is fit for a ‘talented local person' who would enjoy the experience of being in Parliament and taking on the role of being a voice for younger people.

'I think it is a very exciting opportunity, it's something I would have liked to have done when I was young,” says Jan.

Applicants must be: aged 16-18 years on October 19; living in the Tauranga or Coromandel Electorates; active in their community and passionate about youth issues, politics and social change; able to attend the Youth Parliament on July 16 and 17; and able to commit to the Youth MP tenure from March 1 to August 31, 2019.

Jan says those who fit the criteria are encouraged to apply.

'People can apply by sending me a two minute video or one page letter stating why they are the right person to represent the youth of the electorate, how they would make New Zealand a better place and what they believe are the key issues or matters of interest for young people in New Zealand.”

Please send your application with home and email address, phone number, the name of your school or education provider and the contact details of a referee by 5pm, on September 28 to Jan.Tinetti@parliament.govt.nz.

Candidates will then be shortlisted and invited for an interview.

'I am so delighted to be in the position to offer this opportunity to a young person in our community” said Jan.
