Professor Lori Hand will be examining at the SUPA-NZ Successful Ageing Symposium.

The symposium is being held on October 15 in Mount Maunganui.

Convenor Carole Gordon says, Lori leads the Global Business Services, Public Sector business for IBM New Zealand, and has extensive government experience from North America, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

'Through both her personal journey and through IBM Research, Lori is deeply connected to the public and societal impacts of older adults being treated as an invisible population,” says Carole.

'Her current passion is creating human-centred technologies for ageing-in-place to help people live more fulfilling lives.”
Lori explains that for generations, older adults have struggled with the balance between independence and security.

'In the modern era of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, we can tip the scale in favour of more independent living and greater options for safely aging-in-place. '

Be part of the conversation to learn about what is already possible in the world of IT support for older adults, and what is on the horizon in the next few years.
