Primary and intermediate school bands from the Bay of Plenty are ready to rock.

The bands will be taking to the stage this evening at Selwyn Ridge Primary School to participate in KidzRock 2018 Over a Decade of Rock.

The event brings together a number of students from throughout the Bay of Plenty who not only have the chance to perform, but to upskill at the same time.

Leading the opening today has been a performance by guitarist and singer-songwriter, Jack Kearney.

A number of workshops have also been hosted this afternoon where students have learned to improve the playing of their instruments, along with singing, song writing, and recording advice.

The event will close with its grand concert beginning at 7pm today, where all bands will perform until 9pm.

Entry is free or a gold coin donation.
