Tauranga CBD is gearing up for an event that is just as colourful as it is worthy, with the annual Hot Pink Walk.

Thousands are expected to don pink in support of the event which is being held at Downtown Tauranga on Wednesday evening.

As part of it, a number of road closures have also been planned in the CBD.

Closures will be in place between 2.45pm and 8pm on Wednesday October 10 at:

• The Strand, between Devonport Road and Hamilton Street

• Wharf Street from Willow Street to The Strand

In addition there will be rolling road closures in place from 5.45pm – 6.45pm at:

• Devonport Road, between the Strand and Elizabeth Street from 5.45pm – 6.25pm

• Elizabeth Street, between Cameron Road and Devonport Road, westbound side only from 5.55pm – 6.30pm

• Brown Street, between Cameron Road and Willow Street from 6.05pm – 6.45pm

Each section will open as the last participants move through.

Mooring holders will be moved through the road closure on The Strand in order to have access to the Southern Waterfront Car Park during pack in/out, but for safety reasons will have delayed access at key times whilst the event is operating between 5.30pm – 7pm.

There are no road closures in the other areas of the course as walkers will be utilising the footpath, however, temporary traffic management measures will be in place to ensure participant safety.

The event is being held by Breast Cancer Support Service Tauranga Trust and House of Travel, and provides a chance to walk, celebrate and remember those in our lives who have had breast cancer in a fun way.
