Among the often excessive bashing of Tauranga City Council there's some issues that TCC deserves to be criticised and questioned over. A lack of information and response to troubling matters affecting ratepayers is a general one. A couple of ‘what the heck is going on?' issues they've failed to adequately talk about follow.

Why has the infamous Bella Vista homes scandal failed to get sorted? Is it a case of being silenced by lawyers and insurance companies? Multiple levels of failure by TCC have enabled a debacle. As easy as it is to be wise after the event, when I saw the sites a few months ago I wondered how permits to build could have been signed off without remediation works being first carried out to make the land suitable for high density housing, if at all.

In my opinion the innocent, if somewhat naïve property owners should have been absolutely recompensed for council's failure – a blot on the organisation.

The Willow Street ‘container park' may be funky to some people but I‘m not amused. Come on council, get your act together. This is an eyesore and not what a city heart needs. Show some leadership or step down.
