Last call to give feedback on Tauranga parks

Tauranga City Council is seeking your feedback on the draft Tauranga Reserves Management Plan, which guides our decision-making around almost every reserve in the city – including your local park.

The draft plan looks at how we make decisions on more than 50 specific topics including where drones can fly, car parking, park furniture and facilities like toilets, organised sport, heritage sites, and significant trees and vegetation.

Through the plan, we are also proposing to change the function of some of our parks, including:

  • changing Oceandowns Reserve from a neighbourhood reserve to an active reserve (sports fields)
  • changing Tatua Reserve (Newton Street) to a community building reserve and issuing the first lease to the Mount Maunganui Playcentre
  • changing Soper Reserve (Newton Street) to a community building reserve and allowing part of it to be developed as a multi-functional badminton facility, while still enabling events.s
