A 6.2 magnitude earthquake has been felt nationwide.
Residents throughout the country are reporting a large-scale earthquake.
GeoNet has reported it as being a 6.2 magnitude earthquake, with a depth of 207km, based 25km south-west of Taumaranui.
More than 15,000 people have reported feeling the earthquake with some having felt it as far north as Auckland and as south as Christchurch.

Whakatane resident Carol Curran says she was watching television when it happened.
'It lasted for about a minute and felt like a rolling sensation. It was fairly strong.”
Parliament has also been evacuated following the quake.
Meanwhile Civil Defence says there is no threat of a tsunami to New Zealand.
