Sink holes which have formed in a Mount Maunganui street is causing concerns for some residents.
Photos sent to SunLive on Tuesday, show two holes on the side of Commons Ave.
The woman says council enlarged the drainage system a few years ago and put in larger grates.
'It's been working well. We still have had the road quickly flooding during high/king tides but it gets taken away fast by the upgraded system.
'Now two holes have appeared. It looks a bit freaky!”
A Tauranga City Council spokesperson says contractors are working to get to the bottom of the issue.
'Our contractor suspects the cause is an issue at joint connections in the stormwater pipeline.”
Contractors had scheduled a CCTV inspection of the pipe yesterday morning at low tide, as this pipe is subject to tidal influences timing is important.
'For the time being the holes have been filled to keep users of the road safe. Once we have identified the cause we can plan repair of the road.”
