A police pursuit through Tauranga ended with a man being arrested after officers were threatened by members of the public.
A pursuit was initiated when a driver failed to stop on Cameron Road on Sunday night.
Police followed the driver down Cameron Road and State Highway 29 to Waimapu Pa Road, says a police spokesperson.
'The vehicle stopped at Waimapu Pa Road marae carpark, where one person was taken into custody.
'There was a large crowd at the marae, some of whom became agitated and threatened Police.
'Officers presented tasers and pepper spray and were able to leave with the offender without incident.”
A 25-year-old man will be charged with reckless driving, resisting police, driving whilst forbidden, and possession of methamphetamine, says police.
He is due to appear in Tauranga District Court at a later date.
