Baywide Cup home final berth

Eves Realty Greerton made easy work of booking a Baywide Cup home final berth next weekend with victory over Bond & Co Tauranga Boys' College at Nicholson Field on Saturday.

Poverty Bay rep Nick Hendrie led the way for Greerton with 68 as the visitors posted 235-7. Pip Thickpenny, returning from injury, score an unbeaten 59, with Charles Williams the best of the Tauranga Boys' bowlers with 3-26.

Greerton's Dan Spencer took three wickets as Tauranga Boys' were removed for 104 to give Greerton a solid 131 run win. Cameron Templer was the best of the Tauranga Boys' batsmen, top scoring with 23.

Greerton finished the Baywide Cup qualifying competition unbeaten and also retained the Western Bay Cricket challenge prize of the Baker Cup.

Defending Baywide Cup holders Element IMF Cadets earned the other Baywide Cup final berth after a tense win over rivals Carrus Mount Maunganui.

Cadets batted first and set a difficult target of 245/7. Batting at four, Sean Davey anchored the innings with 91. Skipper Jono Boult (56) and Marcel Collett (48) also made contributions to the total with Dominic Crombie taking three wickets.

Mount Maunganui were right in the game throughout their excellent run chase before being bowled out just nine runs short. Ben Musgrave and Dan Smith both posted half centuries, with Boult and Davey backing up their batting heroics with three wickets each.

New World Te Puke's hopes of making next weekend's final were dashed when Mount Maunganui lost. At home against Bayleys Central Indians, Te Puke's

Bay of Plenty rep bowler Iman Singh showcased his batting talents with 75 in his team's total of 224-7.

Central Indians' overseas all-rounder Jake Rowe arrived at the crease at 57/4. He first steadied the ship before lashing out to hit an unbeaten 101 off 111 balls, including nine fours and two sixes, but his team fell agonizingly short by seven runs.
