Update 1.26pm: Fire crews are no longer at the Bayfair Shopping Centre after fire alarms were set off.

Northern Fire and Emergency communitcations shift manager Daniel Nicolson says crews were sent to the shopping centre.

"We went and investigated and there was nothing showing."

Reports are coming in of Bayfair Shopping Centre being evacuated this afternoon.

A SunLive reader messaged us on Facebook to say that the centre has been evacuated and fire alarms are going off.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says firefighters have been called to the centre.

"It doesn't appear to be anything serious."
