Holiday period: opening hours and services

Tauranga City Council offices, including our customer service centre, will close on Friday, 21 December at 5pm and re-open at 8am on Thursday, 3 January.

Our Contact Centre remains available 24/7 on 07 577 7000, every day including the statutory holidays.

Some services like rubbish and glass recycling collection, libraries, transfer stations, pools and sports centres – will continue to be available, with some tweaks to opening hours. See details below.

The statutory holidays this holiday period are:

  • Tuesday 25 December: Christmas Day
  • Wednesday 26 December: Boxing Day
  • Tuesday 1 January: New Year's Day
  • Wednesday 2 January: day after New Year's Day

The customer service centre at 91 Willow Street will close on Friday, 21 December at 5pm and re-open at 8am on Thursday, 3 January. Our Contact Centre remains available 24/7 on 07 577 7000, every day including the stat holidays.

Rubbish and glass collections

There will be no rubbish or collection on Christmas Day (Tuesday 25 December) and New Year's Day (Tuesday 1 January). If your collection day is usually Tuesday, your rubbish will be collected on the Saturday before instead (Saturday 22 December and Saturday 29 December).

Transfer stations

Both our transfer stations will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Open from 8.30am to 5pm on Boxing Day and the day after New Year's Day (2 Jan).

Libraries

All libraries will be closed from 12pm on Monday, 24 December and on the four statutory holidays. Hours will be normal during the rest of the holiday period.

The Baycourt Box Office will close at 1pm on Saturday, 22 December and will re-open at 8.45am Monday, 14 January.

The Historic Village

The Historic Village grounds on 17th Avenue are open every day of the year but the office is closed on weekends and public holidays.

Building consents and resource consents

The Building Services and Environmental Services teams' statutory close down period is Thursday 20 December 2018 to Thursday 10 January 2019 inclusive. The statutory clock will stop on building consent and resource consent processing. This period will therefore not count toward the 20 working day processing time.

LIM reports and property files

The LIM office will be closed between Tuesday 25 December 2018 and Tuesday 15 January 2019 included. These are statutory non-working days for the purpose of LIM processing under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act.

If you need a LIM report before the holidays, put in your application by:

  • Monday 10 December for a 10-day residential or commercial LIM
  • Wednesday 19 December for a 3-day residential LIM

Processing of LIM applications received after Monday 24 December 2018 will start from Wednesday 16 January 2019.

This does not impact requests for property files, which will continue to be delivered throughout the holiday period excluding statutory holidays.
