Usually when it is a hot day, most people will turn to water to cool down.
Today, dogs and their owners turned to mud, in a fun run held in TECT Park.
Held in conjunction with the Western Bay of Plenty District Council and the Tauranga District Council, there was plenty of mud to keep the dogs cool and owners muddy.
In the photos captured by SunLive photographer Cameron Avery, it shows there was plenty to keep to keep the dogs and the owners entertained.
