Heatwave set to die out in some areas

Temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler this weekend.

Friday and Saturday are set for lower temperatures in some parts of country.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says the South Island should expect the biggest temperature drop, in particularly Central Otago which may fall to 14 degrees.

Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury residents should also prepare for a temperature change, with a 10 degree drop predicted.

In the North Island, Hawke's Bay and the far north may experience cooler weather, however, the vast majority of the island will remain warm.

The humidity is set to decrease over the weekend as we experience southerly and south-easterly winds.
