Plan ahead if you are travelling through the Karangahake Gorge and in the Maramarua and Mangatawhiri areas next week.
The New Zealand Transport Agency has announced some road closures and delays caused by road works.
“To undertake asphalt resurfacing work on State Highway 2, Karangahake Gorge area overnight closures will occur next week - from 8:00pm until 5:00am - on Mon 11 Feb & Tue 12 Feb.
Weather permitting the works will occur between Albert St, Mackaytown and River Rd, Karangahake Village with SH2 closed to through traffic between Paeroa and Waihi.
Detour options are to the north - via Hikuai & Kopu (an extra 1hr 20min), or to the south - via Tauranga & Matamata (an extra 1hr 45min). Please plan in advance for your journey. Check our website for updates here: http://ow.ly/6RBP30nCzEB
“Heads up for motorists travelling overnight on State Highway 2, in the Maramarua & Mangatawhiri areas next week.
“Resealing work is planned, weather permitting, between 7pm and 5am each night on 10, 11 & 14 Feb between Dobson Rd & Mangatawhiri Rd - and also between Dimmock Rd & Heaven Rd on 11, 12, 13 & 14 Feb.
"Please allow extra time for delays on these nights as temporary speed restrictions and stop/go traffic management will be in place.”
