Highway re-opened after BOP crash

State Highway 30 in the Bay of Plenty has re-opened following a crash.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Braemar Road in the Lake Rotoma area, at around 2pm on Friday.

A police spokesperson says police have completed a scene examination.

'Initial enquiries indicate that an eastbound vehicle crossed the centre-line into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

'One person was airlifted to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition, and three were taken to Whakatane Hospital with moderate injuries.

'Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken to us. Please call Whakatane Police on 07 308 5255 if you can help.

'Police thank motorists for their patience and cooperation while the road was closed.”
