In response to P Doldem (The Weekend Sun, April 5), wafting on about 'socialist lefties” and blaming 'right-wing capitalists” for the erosion of the traditional way of NZ life.

Well now P Doldem, perhaps you should have checked your facts before writing. It was in fact the 1984 Labour Government. Yes, David Lange, Geoffrey Palmer, Roger Douglas etc, who stopped people from cashing in their family benefit and claiming a State Advances Loan to build a first home!

The very same Roger Douglas who was knighted for his 'advanced financial wizardry” in claiming the market would set the price of everything.
