Tauranga assault accused granted bail

The 24-year-old man who is accused of assaulting another man on The Strand on Sunday, has been granted bail.

Ihaka Stock had his second appearance in the Tauranga District Court and is facing two charges according to court documents.

He is being charged with reckless disregard to wound and possession of an offensive weapon.

During his court appearance, Ihaka’s lawyer pleaded not guilty for both charges on his behalf.

Ihaka will be remanded on bail at a Hamilton address on strict bail conditions until a case review on June 14.

The assault is believed to have occurred around 3.20am on Sunday morning, where a 39-year-old man was found in a critical condition near the playground on The Strand.
