NZ Police report that the person found deceased in a Rotorua stream this morning has been identified as a 62-year-old Rotorua man.

The man's death will be referred to the Coroner.

Earlier 8.47am:

A person has been found deceased in Puarenga Stream in Rotorua this morning.

Police were notified by a member of the public just after 8am.

Enquiries are under way to identify the person and ascertain the circumstances of their death.

No further information is available at this stage.
