Emergency water shutdown in Tauranga

UPDATE: 10.25AM: Around 30 properties in the area are without water this morning after an emergency water shutdown.

"A water tanker will be parked at Memorial Park this morning to provide water to anyone who needs interim supply," says the Tauranga City Council.

"Some bottled water has also been distributed.

"Work is progressing to fix the water main, contractors are on site and are working hard to get the water back up by 12pm."

EARLIER:

Tauranga City Council has advised there is an emergency water shutdown effecting 11th Ave and Fraser St, from the Devonport Road roundabout to MacMillan Street.

In a statement from the council, it says the shutdown has been caused by a massive mains break at 6am this morning, which flooded both sides of the road.

'Tauranga City Council contractors are on site and are working hard to get the water back up by 10am.”
