Guilty plea in McLaren Falls body dump case

Police cordoned off an area around McLaren Falls where Mitchell Paterson's body was found.

A woman is due to be sentenced in June after pleading guilty to a charge in relation to the boy found at McLaren Falls.

Mitchell Paterson was found dead in the water beneath a bridge near the falls in the lower Kaimai Ranges, near Tauranga, on July 13.

Police confirmed last year that Mitchell died of a physical assault before his body was found below McLaren Falls Bridge.

A number of people are facing charges in relation to crime, including Simon Peter Walker, 36, is charged with murdering Paterson.

He also faces charges of kidnapping, conspiring to defeat the course of justice, and interfering with human remains.

In the High Court in Hamilton on Tuesday, Kyra Betteridge pleaded guilty to conspiring to defeat the course of justice and interfering with human remains.

She will reappear in court for sentencing in June.
