Welcome Bay Lane review to be presented to council

The results of the Welcome Bay Lane review will be presented to Tauranga City Council on Tuesday.

The review, undertaken by Aurecon, will be presented at the Projects, Services and Operations Committee meeting.

This public meeting will be held from 9am – 4pm; the report on the Welcome Bay Lane is expected to be on the agenda between 10am and 12pm, says a statement from Tauranga City Council.

'You are welcome to attend this meeting, as the information session on Saturday 18 May at Maungatapu School has been cancelled.

'Council staff have been working with the NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) on a number of matters to improve the safety and efficiency of the road network in the Welcome Bay/Hairini area.

'The re-opening of Welcome Bay Lane has commanded the most public and media attention.

'Therefore, Elected Members directed an independent review be undertaken to look specifically at what could be done in the short-term to re-open Welcome Bay Lane, as well as seeking recommendations to further ease congestion on Welcome Bay Road.”

...the (restricted) public meeting is to be held now NOT on a day when most who use the road can be there, (Saturday) but on a Tuesday...and between 9 and 4..when most who are affected are at work and paying for this monumental cock up to be fixed!...does this reek of a 'cover up' d'ya reckon?..

Yes. Cancel the meeting where you will he asked the hard questions and held to account for your ineptitude. Hide away and discuss this when the tax payers are hard at work. Typical TCC bull.
