Rotorua Museum has announced the return of the biennial Art Awards for 2019 and is calling on all Bay of Plenty artists to enter.

Entries are invited from artists, in any art or craft medium including digital or moving image, who currently reside, work or study in the Bay of Plenty, and those students who study away from their Bay of Plenty home base.

Prizes include the Rotorua Museum Supreme Award of $10,000, the $1,000 Friends of Rotorua Museum Emerging Artist award, the $1,000 Toi Ohomai Innovation in Art Award, the $1,000 Lockwood Youth Award for artists 18 years and under, and two $500 More FM People's Choice Awards.

This will be the largest prize pool that Rotorua Museum has ever offered.

Rotorua Lakes Council Arts and Culture Manager, Stewart Brown, hopes local and regional artists will take up this exciting opportunity to showcase their skills.

This prestigious competition is sponsored by Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology, Lockwood and More FM in association with Friends of Rotorua Musuem.

Entries close at 5pm on Monday September 30 2019, with the awards evening to be held on Tuesday October 22 2019 at the Energy Events Centre, Rotorua.

Employees of Rotorua Lakes Council and Friends of Rotorua Museum executive committee are not eligible to enter.
