Injuries ranging across separate crashes on SH36

UPDATE 6.23PM: Emergency services are currently attending two separate crashes along State Highway 26 this evening.

A police spokesperson says they were called to a crash on Tauranga Direct Road, Hamurana at around 5.45pm.

The spokesperson has also confirmed they were called to another crash on Te Matai Road, Ngawaro at around 5.40pm.

'Early indication at the Hamurana crash is that the crash involved three vehicles.

'St John were also called.

'It appears four people received injuries ranging from moderate to minor.”

The spokesperson says the Ngawaro crash involved a vehicle colliding with a bank.

'No injuries were reported.

'A tow was called.”

EARLIER:

Two separate accidents have occurred on the same stretch of road this evening.

Emergency services are currently attending to crashes on State Highway 36.

One is near Te Matai Road heading into the gorge from Tauranga and the other is near Roy Road heading towards the gorge from Rotorua.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a car is currently blocking the road near Roy Road.

Google Maps is reporting heavy traffic delays in the areas of the accidents with delays likely to be expected.
