Flights in and out of Tauranga this evening are being delayed or have been cancelled.

According to the Tauranga Airport website, at least five flights this evening have been cancelled.

Flights to and from Auckland and Wellington have been cancelled.

A heavy rain warning remains in place for Tauranga as a front, preceded by a moist and strong northerly flow, is forecast to move north across central and northern New Zealand.

Roads around the Bay of Plenty have surface flooding, pot holes are opening up and motorists are advised to take extra care when on the roads.
