The black and blue army from the Te Puna Rugby Football club have won the 2019 Farmlands Co-operative Senior Reserves on Saturday.

Te Puna Senior Reserves took out the final 26-25 over Matakana.

Last Saturday the team secured their place in the final with a 39 points win against Greerton Senior Reserve's 24.

Their other two Te Puna development and premier teams performed well yesterday with Te Puna Development 26 vs Tauranga Sports Development 0, and Te Puna Premiers 58 vs Tauranga Sports Premiers 12, taking the teams into the finals.

This year the Te Puna Rugby Club celebrates 100 years of playing the great game. Since its beginnings in 1919, Te Puna has produced a long list of top players including David 'Davie” Borrell, the Maori All Black who scored all the Bay's points against the 1921 Springboks in the Boks 17-9 win at Arawa Park in Rotorua.
