One person is in hospital with serious injuries after a crash in the Bay of Plenty.

Police were called to the crash at the intersection of Kope Drain Road and State Highway 30 at 6.20pm.

'One person received serious injuries and another moderate to minor injuries.

'A helicopter was dispatched from Tauranga.”

The road was closed for several hours as a result of the crash.

Police say tow trucks were called to remove the vehicles from the scene.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
