UPDATED 9.24AM: A suspicious package has been found at a building in Tauranga this morning.

Cordons are in place on 3rd Ave, between Cameron and Devonport roads.

A police spokesperson says they received a report of a suspicious package at a commercial address on Cameron Road, Tauranga, around 8.30am.

'Cameron Road and Third Avenue are currently closed and cordons are in place.

'Members of the public are advised to avoid the area as a precaution.”

Cordons are in place on 3rd Ave this morning.

A reporter at the scene says emergency services are outside a buidling on 3rd Ave, near the intersection of Cameron Road.

"The road is closed. People are still inside the building, but are not allowed to leave."
