A road closure will be in place today due to the Mitre 10 Cup match between Bay of Plenty Steamers and Otago being played at the Tauranga Domain.
The Cameron Rd northbound lane from McLean St to Brown St will be closed from 10am – 5pm on Sunday August 11.
Gates open at 11.30am at the Tauranga Domain, with the curtain raiser match between FMG Rural XV and Thames Valley U16 Selection kicking off at 12.00pm.
The Mitre 10 Cup game between Bay of Plenty Steamers and Otago will be kicking off at 2.05pm.
Steamers coach Clayton McMillan has named a strong side for their first game of the 2019, Mitre 10 Cup season and says his side is prepared for the onslaught of pressure Otago are known to bring to every game they play.
Clayton says having a strong vocal crowd will help lift the side.
'Everyone loves to play at home. We get a lot of energy off our supporters and it's a huge advantage to be playing at home and to have that advantage in our first game, will be pretty critical to our chances on the weekend.
"Your home games, those are the ones you really want to bank and it certainly helps when our supporters turn up in force to get behind us.”

once again a good game will be ruined by substandard grounds and facilities no parking, no shelter, todays forcast is for rain. will be interesting to see how many people turn up. my guess about 1000 if their lucky. the only ones to profit from this debarcle is the pubs on booze st
Great Idea

What a great idea. Close even more roads and make Tauranga even harder to get around and in such bad weather. Nothing like adding to people's stress ay.
