New Zealand heavy metal band Devilskin are coming to Tauranga as part of their 10th anniversary tour.

They're performing at the Trustpower Baypark Arena on October 18, and bass player Paul Martin says there is no better way to celebrate 10 years ‘doing the damage'.

'The most important thing for bands is getting the chemistry right between the members and being able to stay together, and we've just got that sorted, we're family.

'We all know and trust each other and we all want the same thing.”

Within 10 years the band have reached outstanding milestones, and some of Paul's highlights include touring Europe with Hailstorm, winning a Tui award and sharing the stage with great artists.

'We've played with Disturbed, Slash, just so many great artists, we've had two gold albums and a platinum album, so we couldn't have wished for better.

'We are still fiercely determined to be the best band that we can be.”

Paul says in music, time is something you cannot take for granted. The band have enjoyed every moment of the decade spent together, and they are still as excited to play for crowds now as if it was their first show.

'It's the music that makes us excited, we've been writing a lot of music and feeling really good about it and we've got plans to take it as far as we can.

'It's a really exciting stage for us at the moment.”

Paul describes the upcoming Onward tour as being a party every night.

'The two bands we have touring with us, Black Smoke Trigger and Like a Storm are both amazing bands, and they will be absolutely out there to prove a point, and the audience will have a brilliant night.

'We will be playing some brand new songs as well as playing some old favourites, it's going to be 10 years of our accomplishments.”

The band are looking forward to playing in Mount Maunganui, and it is even more special for Paul, who lived in Papamoa for a short while.

'The Bay is a place dear to my heart and we have always had a good response there, we have good memories of the place and friends we enjoy catching up with.
