Road closures will be in place today as the Mount Maunganui Half Marathon takes place.
Participants in the marathon have the option of completing 5km, 10km or 21kms.
From 7am on Saturday August 24 to 11am there will be a full road closure in place on Surf Road.
Lane closures along Ocean Beach Road and Marine Parade will occur from 7.30am to 12pm.
Lane closures will also take place on Adams Avenue and The Mall from 7.30am to 1pm.
“The road and lane closures may open earlier depending on the progress of the event,” says a council spokesperson.
“Traffic is able to make a left turn onto Ocean Beach Road, Marine Parade and The Mall, but no right turn will be available for the duration of the closure.
“Resident and business access will be maintained at all time.”
To ensure a safe running course there will be lane closures. These will affect the bus services during the event, between 6am and 2pm.

There will be parking restrictions in place along the seaward side of Ocean Beach Road, Marine Parade and The Mall from 6.30am to 1pm, to ensure a safe running course.
