Oropi Road reopens fully to traffic

UPDATE 5.58PM: Both lanes along Oropi Road are now open.

A council spokesperson says there is currently a 50km/h speed limit in place.

EARLIER:

Oropi Road has reopened to one lane following a sink hole that opened near the Oropi Stream Bridge last night.

Earlier today, the Tauranga City Council closed the road to all vehicles for repair works to be done.

One lane, between Cheyne Road and Oropi Stream Bridge has been reopened to traffic.

'A start/stop system will be in place to allow vehicles to travel in both directions,” says a council spokesperson.

'Work will continue through the evening to get both lanes reopened as soon as possible.”

it will be closed again in a few weeks to refix the same problem
