A heavy rain watch is in force for Tauranga today.
The MetService says there are periods of rain, possibly heavy and thundery from afternoon, with southeasterlies.
'A complex low over the north Tasman Sea moves east onto the North Island today, and over the Island on Tuesday.
'The low should bring periods of heavy rain with isolated thunderstorms to northern parts of the North Island. The heaviest falls are expected about Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty west of Te Puke.”
A heavy rain watch for Coromandel Peninsula has now been upgraded to a full warning.
'People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts in case any updates are made to the watch or warning.”
