Heavy rain clearing this afternoon

The long range forecast is looking pretty clear until around Saturday.

The heavy rain which lashed Tauranga overnight is expected to clear later today.

The MetService is forecasting the occasional period of rain, possibly heavy this morning.

'Then clearing in the evening.

'Winds tending northeasterly, then dying out.”

A heavy rain watch remains in place this morning.

'A complex low over the North Island should weaken on Tuesday and then move away to the east.

'This low is expected to deliver further periods of heavy rain with isolated thunderstorms to parts of the upper North Island, before easing on Tuesday.

'The heaviest falls are expected about Coromandel Peninsula and Bay of Plenty west of Te Puke.”
