The Chase's Shaun Wallace will return to New Zealand next month, his second time this year, for a pub quiz championship.

While in the country he will be fitting in a visit to Tauranga.

Wallace would host the New Zealand Pub Quiz Championships in Auckland, the Believe It Or Not pub quiz company said.

The TV quiz show star would also visit Dunedin, Nelson, Tauranga, Palmerston North, and Whangarei, hosting free events, with details soon to be announced. And he would be attending events in the Wellington and Christchurch.

He was last here in February, promoting his autobiography ‘Chasing the Dream'. Back then, he hosted another one of Believe It Or Not's pub quizzes, at The Carlton in Christchurch.

Despite his "focused assassin" character on The Chase, those at the standing-room-only event in Christchurch said Wallace was upbeat and talkative.

He also visited a rest home in Auckland, where about 250 senior residents packed into the site's function room to meet him.

The Chase star had made headlines during his whirlwind visit, taking charge of Air New Zealand's own well known quiz. He took over the flight's intercom, turning quizmaster on board a flight between Wellington and Queenstown.

In a statement, Believe It Or Not said Wallace "absolutely loves this country". The company said he would be visiting places he wasn't able to see during his trip earlier this year.
