Five injured in BOP crash

Emergency services were called to the crash in the Eastern Bay of Plenty on Wednesday afternoon.

Five people have been injured after a ute rolled in the Bay of Plenty.

Emergency services were called to the crash on State Highway 2, near Opotiki, on Wednesday afternoon.

One person was reported to be in serious condition, while four others received moderate injuries.

A St John alert says all five patients were taken to Whakatane Hospital by road.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Colin Underdown says the ute was the only vehicle involved in the crash and no-one was trapped in the vehicle.
