The Armed Offenders Squad have been deployed to a location in Te Puke following an alleged offender retreating into a building.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Paengaroa area. The vehicle was located and Police attempted to stop it, however the driver fled.

A brief pursuit followed before Police lost track of the vehicle.

Police made enquiries and found that the male involved was believed to have driven the vehicle to Te Puke.

The vehicle was located crashed off Mark Rd in Te Puke. Police dogs tracked the alleged offender to another address on Mark Rd. The offender allegedly behaved in a threatening manner toward officers and retreated into a building.

The Armed Offenders Squad has been deployed to assist and the building has been cordoned off.
