A man is facing driving related charges following a police chase through Tauranga this morning.

A vehicle failed to stop for police while being driven along Takitimu Drive.

The fleeing vehicle then started heading towards Katikati, as road spikes were deployed along State Highway 2 with the intersection of Thompsons Track.

'The driver was taken into custody without incident,” says a police spokesperson.

'A 51-year-old mad will be appearing in the Tauranga District Court on November 22 on charges of failing to stop, driving while disqualified, and operating a vehicle causing sustained loss of traction.”
