One person has died following a water-related incident at Whakatane Heads this afternoon.
Emergency services were advised of the incident shortly after 2pm.
'We were advised that a person had been pulled from the water in a critical condition,” says a police spokesperson.
'Medical attention was administered but the person died at the scene.”
