Police seeking those involved in firearms incident

Police are working to locate those involved in this morning's firearms incident in Ruatoria and are following strong lines of enquiry.

"We would like to reassure members of the public that this was an isolated incident involving parties known to each other," says a Police spokesperson.

Local residents should expect a continued Police presence in the area throughout the weekend.

Anyone with information that may assist this investigation is urged to contact Police on 105 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Earlier, 10.50am

McClutchie Road is now open following a firearms incident in Ruatoria this morning.

Police responded to the scene at 9.20am following reports of shots fired.

The incident is believed to have involved parties known to each other and related to a vehicle collision on Waiomatatini Road.

Police advise that residents should expect a continued Police presence in the area.

Anyone with information that may assist this investigation is urged to contact Police on 105 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police are responding to a firearms incident at Ruatoria this morning.

The firearms incident on McClutchie Road, Ruatoria was reported to Police around 9.20am.

McClutchie Road is closed to through traffic and residents in the area are advised to stay indoors.

No injuries have been reported.

Police are working to understand the circumstances of the incident.

isn’t it amazing. jacinda’s gun law was supposed to stop all these gun incidents there have been shootings and murders just about on a daily basis since this new law came in. once again the majority good guys pay for the minority bad guys. just another knee jerk reaction from this govt
