Waikato Police are appealing to the public for any information about the arson at Learn a Lot Child Care Centre at the rear of the Rototuna Shopping Centre in Hamilton.

'At about 5.45pm on Thursday, December 26, 2019, the rear of the building was set alight, causing extensive damage to the building and interior, which will now need to be replaced,” says a post on the Waikato Police Facebook page.

'The child care centre was a safe haven for some of our youngest members of the community. A wanton act of destruction has seen the safe haven destroyed and Police would like to hold the offenders accountable.

'Someone out there must know something?”
