Anyone with an interest in astrophotography will have a chance to learn from an expert at the Tauranga Astronomical Society meeting tomorrow night.

Photographer Wayne Feisst from Ohope is presenting his work as well as giving tips on astrophotography.

'If people are interested in learning how to use their cameras or taking astro photos of the night sky then Wayne will be explaining how to do that, hopefully using the gear that they've got,” says society president David Greig.

The night isn't just for people with an interest in astrophotography, he says.

'It's for anybody who is interested in coming along, even for people who are not into photography themselves so much, I think they'll find the images in the presentation very interesting.

'It's occasional that we have guest speakers and Wayne is like most of us at the club, we're amateur astronomers, and I think he's doing this as a hobbyist more than anything, so just sharing his skills.”

After Wayne's presentation, David will be sharing his knowledge on telescopes and giving beginners recommendations on a good telescope to start with.

'We'll explain the main different types of telescopes and the recommendations for buying a first telescope.”

He says at 9.20pm attendees might get the chance to see the latest string of Starlink satellites.
