Baycourt cancels public shows until 31 March

Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our artists, audiences, visitors and our valued staff.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Baycourt Community and Arts Centre has today taken the difficult decision that all public performances from tonight (Wednesday, 18 March) until March 31st will be cancelled. We will re-evaluate the situation at that time.

The current advisory from the NZ Government and the Ministry of Health is that mass gatherings of 500 people or more in close proximity should be cancelled. Baycourt Community and Arts Centre has a capacity of 582 seats. We have explored the possibility of limiting capacity for event attendance, however in the absence of clarity on how smaller events should be treated, we have decided that cancelling performances at Baycourt is the best way to support the NZ Government's intent of the current measures in place, which is to avoid non-essential gatherings which may facilitate the spread of COVID-19.

Baycourt Community and Arts Centre was built to serve the community. It is our responsibility to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of everyone on site and to protect members of the public by limiting the spread of COVID-19.

The cancelled performances are as follows:
Tina- Simply The Best, Wednesday 18 March, 8pm.

Floyd Live- Saturday 21 March, 7.30pm.

Winding Up- Wednesday 25th March and Thursday 26 March, 2pm and 7.30pm.

Dance Avenue, Wonderland- Saturday 28 March, 6.30pm, Sunday 29 March, 11am and Sunday 29 March, 3pm.

All ticket holders for these events will be refunded in full. Ticket holders will be contacted directly by Ticketek, and do not need to contact the venue.

We ask patrons to be patient during this process. The team at Ticketek are working hard to process refunds for a range of cancelled events and so response times may be longer than usual.

Thank you to everyone for your understanding and support.
