Power cut in Bowentown due to vehicle hitting pole

Police report that a car hit a powerpole early this morning in Bowentown.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Seaforth Rd and Tuna Ave around 3.23am.

The two occupants of the vehicle were uninjured.

Power lines came down on the road and are being attended to. PowerCo advise that there was a power cut to 856 properties at 4.12am. Power is expected to be restored by 6pm Sunday June 28.

There was also a power cut in Waihi at 2.59pm on Saturday in Waihi due to a lightning strike. The power outage is affecting 15 properties.
