Power outage after SH29 crash

The crash happened in the Lower Kaimai area around 12am. File photo.

Power is out to about 200 properties in the Lower Kaimai area this morning.

Powerco is reporting that the cause of the outage is a vehicle hitting a power pole around 12am.

A SunLive reader messaged us on Facebook to say there was a crash on State Highway 29, just before Kaimai School earlier this morning.

'There were power lines down on top of a car and four police cars at the scene.

'The crash was just before Kaimai School, but the slow lane going up the hill heading towards Matamata.”

Powerco says contractors are working to restore the supply and estimate to have it back on around 2pm.

SunLive has contact police for more information about the crash and will provide an update when we can.
