Police are calling for witnesses to a fatal crash in the Bay of Plenty.

In particular, officers want to hear from a person in a red truck who stopped to help, when two motorbikes crashed south of Whakatāne on Friday.

A police spokesperson says 23-year-old Scott Joseph Sinclair died in the incident on Bell Road, at Nukuhou.

He was the second fatality involving a motorcycle crash over the weekend, reports RNZ.

The other death was at Ngongotaha in Rotorua on Saturday morning.

Those with information about the crashes can contact their nearest police station.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

Non-emergency information can be phoned into the police's 105 number.

Im not surprised with motorcycle accidents, couple of weeks ago on SH1 southern motorway a dozen m/c just weaved there way through traffic not caring about safety with two bikes nearly coming to grief.this weekend Hwy 29 bike just taking off if front of cars instead of giving away. They are going the right way about righting themselves off.
